What Is A Tsunami?

Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning “harbor wave” and is used to describe a massive ocean wave, usually caused by an aquatic earthquake or a volcanic eruption. The large ocean wave occurs when the abrupt movement of tectonic plates in a vertical direction creates a sudden vertical displacement of water.1
